Cowdray Estate welcome Student for Work Placement

At Slindon College, we aim to prepare our students for the world of work. As part of this, we operate work experience for our Sixth Form students, alongside an Employability Course which provides skills and techniques essential for the future.

We are proud to announce a recent success story, in Sixth Former Patrick Bridger, who went for an interview at the prestigious Cowdray Estate Office in September. Our Work Experience Co-ordinator, Mrs Teresa Miles arranged the interview with Harriet Connolly, HR and Nick McDonald on the Estate Management Team.

Patrick aced his first ever interview  and was offered a one day a week work placement, allowing Patrick to work in Estate Management. His work includes Strimming, mowing, events management and more, plus the opportunity to build experience in all other areas and complete work that he would like to do in his future.

Cowdray, who incidentally make up one of our school houses, have very much welcomed him as a member of the team, with the work taking place on the beautiful Cowdray House Estate; a really wonderful place to work! Patrick is local to the estate and really feels that he has found something he would love to do. This is supported at school with his Horticulture courses, led by Mrs Maureen Sargent.

A huge congratulations to Patrick!
