Belonging: Children's Mental Health Week
Children's Mental Health Week
Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 runs from February 9–15, 2026, with the theme "This is My Place," focusing on fostering a sense of belonging in schools, homes, and communities.
Organised by the charity Place2Be, this annual event provides free resources, activities, and toolkits for schools, families, and community groups to support children’s emotional well-being. Slindon College will participate by hosting activities, and individuals can join the conversation using official campaign materials.
The week encourages open discussions about mental health, helping to create nurturing environments for children. The theme encourages children to explore where they feel they belong, aiming to strengthen relationships, build confidence, and ensure no child faces mental health issues alone. The purpose is to highlight the importance of children and young people's mental health and empower them to express their emotions
To kick-start the week, Mr Robson (Deputy Head) and Mrs Kettink (Head of Pastoral) organised an assembly, focussing on 'belonging.' This included readings from Austin (Head Boy) and prefects: Matthew (Sussex) and Arthur (Norfolk).
