A trip to Biffa

Slindon College is dedicated to informing pupils about caring for the environment, and nurturing knowledge of recycling to help our planet.

Pupils of KS4 Design Technology recently visited Biffa Recycling Plant in local Ford, West Sussex.

Biffa is a waste management company which provides collection, landfill, recycling and special waste services to local authorities and industrial and commercial clients in the United Kingdom. In 2017 it was the UK's second-largest waste-management company.

Biffa’s Education Officer explained to them how the recycling plant works and the importance of recycling. Our pupils then had the unique opportunity of going out on to a viewing platform and seeing the recycling plant in action.

Thank you to Biffa for our visit. All our pupils learnt a great deal.
