Greenpower at Goodwood

Full Throttle, Zero Footprint!
The College Team recently took part in the Greenpower Heat at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit.
Greenpower inspire young people around the world to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through a unique challenge: to design, build and race an electric car.
Greenpower Education Trust is a UK based charity with an outstanding track record in kick starting careers in engineering. They help unlock potential and spark enthusiasm for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) through the excitement of motorsport.
Competing against more than 60 teams from across the South of England, our car 'Burby' achieved an outstanding 3rd place finish — an excellent result for the team.
The event also marked the first race outing for our new Greenpower kit car, 'Flinty,' which was successfully driven by our three new drivers, all gaining valuable experience on the track.
The College’s future Headteacher, Mr Critchard, visited the team at Goodwood and was hugely impressed by the commitment, teamwork, and achievements of our pupils.
The Slindon College Greenpower Project is run and managed by our Head of Design Technology, Mr Paul Burbidge, who said:
"I am incredibly proud of our team's performance. They worked tirelessly to design, build, and test our electric car. Out on the track, their resilience, engineering problem-solving, and sheer teamwork were outstanding. They truly embodied the spirit of sustainable motorsport!"
Our next Greenpower race will take place on Saturday 12th September at Dunsfold Park.
