A Sussex win for the Swimming Gala 2023

The weather was in our favour for our annual inter-House Swimming Gala and our students once again dove straight in!

Our whole school Swimming Gala event has been a long-standing (or should we say swimming) tradition at Slindon College, which marked its 50th Anniversary last year.

Although the main principles of the Gala have remained the same, each era of the school has added its own nautical flare which have even included fancy dress elements!

For the Swimming Gala 2023, however, we have pitted our Houses; Cowdray, Norfolk, Richmond and Sussex, against each other in various aquatic challenges!

With a huge turnout from our wonderful and supportive parents, and with a glorious raffle, flower sale and bake sale provided by our Friends of Slindon College (FoSC);  this was an excellent way to round off the first half of the term and the fact that the sun was shining brightly meant the day was enjoyed by everyone, including those cheering on the competitors!

A huge well done to all those who took part, particularly to Sussex House who soared to success, winning the inter-house rely for the second year running!

Mr Relf, Head of Sussex House said:

"I'm very proud of our Sussex team who showed commitment and teamwork throughout!"

The event was organised by our Head of PE teacher, Mr Belcher who said:

"I'm thrilled with the turn-out from parents this year, and the incredible effort put in by the students, in our lead up lessons, and in the main event itself! Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen."
