Norfolk win first Inter-House Championship!

Magic is in the air, and students and teachers alike were buzzing at Slindon College today as a 'Harry Potter' style Sorting Ceremony took place in our very own Great Hall. The new school year will see a change to our school houses, with four new houses being introduced:

NORFOLK - Head of House: Mrs Sargeant (Horticulture)

SUSSEX - Head of House: Mr Burbidge (DT)

RICHMOND - Head of House: Mrs Miles (Maths)

COWDRAY - Head of House: Mr Belcher (PE)

Nervous (but excited) students took their places in a line in front of The Sorting Hat, created especially by one of our super talented parents and based upon the chapter of the same name in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' by JK Rowling.

Just like in the best selling childrens books and blockbuster films, the students placed the hat on their head, with help from Mrs Miles and Mrs Sargeant, decked out in their traditional robes and a magical and mysterious voice from the hat shouted out the name of their house!

As you can see above, the houses are represented by ties coloured to each house and have a unique shield, designed by Art Teacher, Mrs Middleton.

In an effort to reduce the financial pressure of this uniform improvement, we have selected a Games and PE kit which consists of the current uniform with the only addition being the House Socks. Additionally the College will fund, for existing pupils, the initial purchase of the Blazer and Tie.

Following The Sorting Ceremony, a huge inter-house championship commenced - and no it wasn't Quidditch! The whole school joined together for a game of Rounders in the summer sun! Sadly, Sussex and Cowdray were knocked out of the running as Richmond and Norfolk went for the championship.

Finally it was a win for Norfolk! Well done to all, and particular this house who win the first ever inter-house championship at Slindon College!
