Occupational Therapy - Specialist support for Cognitive and Sensory skills in West Sussex

Occupational Therapy (OT) is a therapy to improve a pupils motor skills, balance, and coordination. OT helps pupils improve the motor skills involved in everyday tasks, like writing and getting dressed. These skills include fine and gross motor skills and motor planning. Therapists also work on coordination, balance, and self-regulation skills. Occupational therapy is a science degree-based, health and social care profession, regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council.

Slindon College's paediatric trained Occupational Therapists will empower your son to achieve and overcome barriers preventing them from undertaking day-to-day activities. OT's take into account the physical, social, emotional, sensory and cognitive abilities and needs of each individual pupil. Carefully structured individual or group sessions delivered in our dedicated room will help improve cognitive, physical, sensory, motor skills and self-esteem. Making it easier for your child to improve their physical health, independence and well-being both here at the College and at home. 

Intervention plans are comprehensive and structured based on information collated from the individual pupils Educational Psychologist report, Educational Healthcare Plan or other outside agency report and diagnostic assessment. 

1:1 Occupational Therapy intervention is chargeable as an Additional Therapy.
